That said, I'm now downloading Spanish because I'd rather brush up on a language I already know than get it totally mixed up with a different one.

Although, it's kind of fun learning French, so IDK what's going to happen. I'll probably have to drop both once I get back to school.

ETA

HAHA OKAY THIS IS AWESOME. His voice is all raspy AND HE'S SCREAMING THE LYRICS and it's a little off, but that's what makes is perfect, y/y?

ETA2
He kind of makes it into a screamo song. "If the time isn't right THEN MOVE OOOOOON!!!!"

You know what? Whatever force there is decided that tonight would be the night I find a video of Joseph Gordon-Levitt talking about Marlon Brando and Guys & Dolls. So I'm just going to take it and run.

barkinmad: (Going Incepting)

This post is (hopefully) one of three on a very interesting movie I saw a week ago.

That I will probably see this weekend.

Probably twice.
barkinmad: (Desire)

I'm just going to leave this here.

I went to an Amanda Palmer ninja gig today. It was pretty fucking awesome. As previously mentioned, it took place in the theater where I currently want to live, breathe and die. They actually said that the theater was being forced to closed unless people volunteered, so I heartily signed up. I don't care if I have another schedule and still no way to make money. I want that theater open.

Oh, right! Music! I know she played "Oasis" and "Hallelujah" but I didn't know the names of the other songs because I'm a horrible fan. She and Jason Webley did play an Evelyn Evelyn song that was quite good. The premise reminded me of "Sisters." For those of you unawares:

The one on the left is George Clooney's aunt, BTW. And if you liked that, you should watch the version with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye.

We had pretty good seats and I took a couple of pictures. I wanted to buy tickets for the actual EE show tomorrow night, but I have a midterm. Oh well.

During the performance, Amanda came down into the audience and sat right next to me for a while! That was pretty awesome. I didn't say anything, but still a very cool story. She also signed my friend's tit (don't worry, I have pics!) and would have signed my notebook if the guy behind us hadn't cut.

Speaking of sisters, I kind of pissed mine off today :/ I'll go bury my shame with more Buffy.

I had this weird dream last night where I was a student in an art class, but it was all girls and only one guy. So there was talk about how the teacher/institution was actually really sexist because they wanted all the art to be a certain way, and it was all very superficial and it would eventually all lead to us being secretaries. Or something. ANYWAY, what I remember was that the one teacher was being SUPERCRITICAL of the art of the sole guy in the class, because it was really excellent and somehow that was bad. They were self-portraits or something, and the teacher called the guy up to have a chat, and I was waiting next in line to discuss art. Here's the clincher, the student? MILO VENTIMIGLIA. And the teacher? ZACHARY QUINTO.

WHY AM I STILL HAVING HEROES DREAMS. THIS IS AWFUL.

But that's not all. Eventually, Milo turned to some art that was of Zachary and he was all "Oh, well this, THIS is amazing. I mean, really exquisite!" And Milo goes, "YEAH I REALLY LIKED IT I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY." and so they continue this conversation where they're pretty much just jerking each other off and one of the last things I remember hearing from Milo was him shouting at Zach, "I JUST WANT MY FEET ALL OVER YOUR BODY!"

ETA: Oh Jesus Christ, they should take my English Major badge away from me.

Speaking of gay things, I went to D.C's Gay Pride Parade, and it was pretty awesome. It was my one goal in life to get as many beads as possible, and there was literally a woman handing them out to individuals, and she skipped me >:O But other than that it was happy awesome fun times.

Cut for video. Yes, there's video. )

In other news, I think I accidentally ordered a pizza for tomorrow afternoon O_o

Snobbish though it undoubtedly is of me, I had never conceived of the hybrid of a fan of both Lobachevsky and the emotional Molotov that is Supernatural. I suppose one should be grateful that you weren't looking out clips for "I Hold Your Hand In Mine", although this is as inspired reading of the dynamic between these two gentlemen. An utterly original concept, which, given the constant competition on YT, must be close to the ultimate accolade.

I honestly think this might be a troll. Who words comments this way?! Especially on Youtube.

ETA: Commenter has since erased and replaced with a similar, yet slightly differently worded comment.
barkinmad: (Son of a...)
Basically, there's this film. And it's a rom-com. I'm not totally opposed to rom-coms, but this looks like the Hollywood brand that's going to make me leave the theater fuming and mad at gender issues and crappy writing and plotholes. But....

Kristen Bell is in it.
And so is Lee Pace. (BTW, why would anyone ever break up with Lee Pace? Or Kristen Bell, for that reason. UNREALISTIC.)
With a new Jason Mraz song.

So this film is pretty much plotting against me in order to secure that my ass in one of those red cushiony seats.

A rehashing of memes to come.
barkinmad: (Shipping)
I need a gif of this dance sequence, stat:

But that's not really what this post is about. )
barkinmad: (The Monkees)
This is an interesting story about how I'm totally insane.

Recently, I discovered.... )

P.S. I'm taking a German film class and there are a bunch of people I'm friends with taking it with me. There are six of us and our collective identities include: German history nerds, culture whores/film enthusiasts, Jewish or about-to-be Jewish people, snarky commenters. There is quite a bit of overlap and we all sat in a little group at the back of the class. We watched a movie tonight that dealt with a refugee WWII Jewish family. I'm pretty sure everyone else in the class hated us.

P.S.S. REG! REGINALD FAIRFIELD!
Still creeps into my mind now and then, even today.

ETA: Oh great. Episode 11 of Middleman is apparently infested with OSDW references, so now I have to watch it.

ETA 2: I've decided. I'm not crazy about this show as a college student, but I'm forcing my kids to watch it.
barkinmad: (Snow)
So, for eleven days, I have all my icons back! LJ decided to stick me with a notice about my extra userpics the SAME NIGHT that I dealt out money for a paid account, but I ain't even bovvered. Instead, have some amazingly awesome!

Holy fucking cephalopod!

College is...college. I miss it a lot, but I'm been busying myself with 30 Rock (I'm almost done with Season 1!) and reading webcomics. I'm currently on Sheldon, which is adorable and reminds me of classic dailies with geekiness mixed in. I have a whole list of webcomics that my friend gave me, so I'll keep you updated as I troll through all the archives. I'm using Google Reader now too, so that takes up a fair amount of my time.

I'm SO CLOSE to finishing my Beatle book, but then I have a George Harrison book, and The Magicians, and a bunch of books about movies.

If I can figure out how to do it on a computer that is not my own (I'm using my sister's because mine was stolen, did I tell you that?), I have an pretty cool idea for a mix. So expect that. Maybe.

It's snowing!

P.S. I chose nostalgic because...OMG LOOK AT HIS ADORABLE LITTLE FIVE-YEAR-OLD FACE. OMG NOSTALGIC JGL FOREVER!
barkinmad: (Quite Amused)
I just redid my layout and it's AMAZING! I love it so much because it's pink, and dotty, and very me. I am very happy, and therefore grateful to [livejournal.com profile] thefulcrum.

I know I have yet to give my opinion on anything I've seen in the last week (Harry Potter and 500 Days of Summer). I do have photos and such and some video, but I don't want to put any other video on YouTube aside from this one:

Um anything else you cool cats want to know about? I decided that I'm not going to "500 Days of Summer" again tonight not because I don't want to but because this is one of my last chances to eat some delicious Thai food from one of my favorite restaurants. And then we'll probably watch Annie Hall or something else that I found on VHS last night. There are LOTS of good movies that I have on VHS but don't have on DVD.

I need to write fic or something. I wrote a little original drabble and will probably post it at [livejournal.com profile] sitrow but I'm not 100% happy with it since I feel like it's covered ground. Maybe my Intro. to Creative Writing class next semester will help me get my gears turning again. Or...IDK what will happen.
