Gleetches (Get It? It’s Like Glitches. But Not)
I have very mixed feelings about tonight's episode. I like that they went for some story lines that they should be addressing, but some of the ways the executed them were frustrating. The Kurt + Finn relationship was just insanely frustrating to watch because I understand both sides very well and they're just so unable to communicate comprehensibly I'm almost trying to say things for them. I just want to sit them down and explain that Kurt is who he is and he's free to do whatever he wants, but he can't push his ideal and views on other people and Finn shouldn't be uncomfortable in his own home because Kurt's so obsessed with him. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. I like that Finn stood up for Kurt, but they also need to address his side of the issue as well. IT'S FINE FOR KURT TO BE GAY BUT HE CAN'T CONTROL OTHER PEOPLE HE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT.
Sorry.
Really, I love Kurt. I almost cried tonight when he was crying but seriously people.
One thing that they addressed tonight which I really appreciate was the bullying. I liked seeing how the Glee club kids were still affected by it, but I really think it needed to be over the course of the season instead of just in one episode. I'm also really excited that Kurt seems to be talking back to them now instead of just letting himself be thrown in the dumpster. I'm putting that Super Cuts diss in my bank for safekeeping.
I like how at the beginning of the episode, everyone went on a whole spiel about how Lady Gag is ~*~pushing boundaries~*~ and ~*redefining*~ genres just like they did with Madonna. And by like, I mean, I'm getting a little tired of it.
OMG did Matt get a line? That's ridiculous! Why did Mike not? Why do they say Mike's name five times in an episode but never have him speak?
I love the costumes. I think Quinn was my favorite. But that's because I'd smother myself in hot pink if possible. Second favorite would probably be Rachel's second outfit/Santana's. I'm wondering why they had to wear their costumes all week when in other episodes they really didn't.
Also, why is Mr. Schuester always at the student-principal conferences? He really didn't need to be there this episode.
I liked the Quinn/Puck storyline, but again, it came out of nowhere. Wasn't Puck previously hopping around from girl to girl? Wasn't he kind of with Mercedes? Why did Finn help him sing the "Beth" song if they still hate each other? YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN THINGS, GLEE.
I feel like the Tina storyline was just bookends and an excuse for Lady Gaga. She deserves more than that. I actually really would have enjoyed seeing her trying out different styles and spending more time with her while she figures out who she is and how she wants to express herself.
BTW that vampire scene was BAMF. HELL YEAH.
"Poker Face" would have been a good version except that every single cover of it is acoustic. I really liked "Bad Romance" and seeing the guys do KISS was pretty awesome.
Another thing that bothered me. A couple of weeks ago, it was the guys picking on the girls and treating them unfairly. Now it's the girls who always get their way? Pick a storyline and stick with it, you can do more than one episode about an idea. Or at least have some sort of progression from one into the other.
It kind of sounds like I hated this episode, doesn't it? But I didn't. There were still a lot of funny parts, and hearing Idina Menzel sing is always wonderful. I don't know. I liked a lot of what they were doing, but it seemed like too little too late and too rushed. But I'm glad that they're at least doing it unlike some other shows. Maybe someone can sit the writers down second season and explain how story arcs work. So I'm just going to say that I both love and hate this episode for various reasons. That is my rant.
P.S. Jesse was conspicuously missing from this episode again (maybe only conspicuous to me). And then that trailer for next week had him...er. I don't like where this is going. They NEED him next season. They really, really, really do.
P.P.S. I'm seeing all these well thought out, literate responses to the Kurt/Finn situation and I totally agree with all of them. It kind of occurred to me that I'm in my own little corning being all "RAAAAARGGGHH" and capslocking and keysmashing. Whatever.
Sorry.

I think Mike did get a line! He was in the Kiss getup so it was hard to tell it was him. XD
Re: Puck- One of the things that annoys me about Glee is they have some serious continuity issues. They mold people to a storyline so that it can fit the song-theme-o-the-week, but don't think if it would actually make sense for that character. I mean I love the show to pieces, but it should be getting better as the show ages.
I was really sad to see JGroff MIA, he's got the best voice of the bunch. At least last time they hand-waved it away that he was on a trip. I think it's weird that Rachel would be going through all that Mama Drama and wouldn't turn to Jesse.

And as far as J. Groff goes, they switched the order of Funk and Theatricality, so that could have something to do with it. They claimed that nothing would be messed up timewise, but I'm thinking they don't realize how much we pay attention.
I agree with everything else you wrote, pretty much! Especially on the Kurt/Finn side of things. As much as I enjoyed bits of that storyline (that scene with Burt was outstanding), there was still a lot they really needed to touch on and resolve.

I really need some Glee icons.
