AH, I see, I see. I think the only thing I could ever see myself shipping was Peter/Mike, personally. I don't know why it was. It was just my brain being my brain. I pretend to see subtext like I get paid for it....
This just serves to remind me that I need this show on DVD! They're kind of expensive, but the packaging seems neat. They are now at the almost-top of the list!
And I fell asleep before I could address this in the last post, so here's something else, in regards to the Monkee in the wooly hat. He's my least favorite Monkee (Honestly, I was generally rather ambivalent on him and Davy, but the whole "super serious" straight-man gimmick was not as cool to 4th grade me as "talks with a funny accent". Perhaps if I was older I'd appreciate it more), but despite my hatred of all things "country music", the songs he wrote are among some of my favorites. So, when it comes to what matters, he kind of wins.
Well, he DID have a funny accent of sorts. I'm pretty much in love with it. Also, he was a BAMF and a lot of the songs he wrote hit the Top 40 without anyone even realizing it because the producers or whatever didn't think it was right for The Monkees to play.
Also, do you have any of the albums? Because I only have Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones.
I DON'T GET WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM, THEY WERE OBVIOUSLY BESTIES.
LOL Okay, so I wanted to see the picture up close, but wasn't able to, so I went to the site where it was from. It turned out to be this LJ user with a SECOND DOCTOR MOOD THEME and a bunch of photos from the 30s ♥. So I randomly left a comment on a three-month-old post, of course.
Though I did have Then & Now... The Best of The Monkees on cassette back in 86, I don't have any official albums. I have a greatest hits cd and the Listen To The Band box set. It's great because it covers the music through the late 80's reunion (which coincided with the Nickelodeon airings of the show, which is what got me into them to start with.) I really like some of the later not-as-poppy stuff. It's got 80 songs on it, so I assume that if it's not everything, it's pretty close to it. (I looked up "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones" and that album has five of my favorite songs on it, which is not bad for having only 13 tracks.)
See, I think I need some clarification on this. They were totally friends, right? And then they had a huge falling out? Or they just needed to go different places musically? Or what? I think I've been told multiple times but I keep forgetting...
I checked my cd case and I have Davy and Mickey (AKA volumes 1 and 3. Each one has a Monkee, so I refer to them by their names). I think Peter (2) is around here somewhere too in the pile of "CDs that should be in the case, but float around not-cased until they get scratched/broken and I get angry". I will find him. Mike (4), on the other hand, is still in the box, possibly buried in the basement . I think I know where he is, but I am not 100% positive. (More like 79%). I am about to go to bed now (stupid work!) but when I get home tonight I will work on getting that for you.
Also, I see what you're doing up there! :: points:: I see it all!!
They were best friends. Then The Beatles split up and the two of them kind of argued through the press for a while. But in '74 they got close again and even had a jam session together. After that, they kind of drifted apart again, but weren't especially brash towards each other anymore.
And I know, I had the same reaction when I came to the realization. I was like "........ohgod. NO. I HAVE SPENT YEARS HATING ON BANDOMS.. and now this.."
Back again. So, I put Disc 1 here, and then, I broke out the discman and listened to 2 and 3 last night. 3 is good, but 2 has some issues. so, instead of Limewiring the messed up tracks and trying to assemble a complete disc, I will direct you to this site here... which is where I went to get myself a new "Peter". I am looking around for some stuff the box set is missing, and when I find it, if you want it, I'll put it up for you.
See, I don't have that fancy comment editing feature, so instead I am just padding your comment count with comment after comment. Sorry about that. Here is something you might find useful.
Thank you! I'm definitely taking Listen to the Band, but the other site you linked me doesn't seem very legit. I kept getting pop-ups. I will continue searching, however.
Oh man.... It didn't work for you? I went through a few of them earlier and nothing bad happened here. Then again, I have all kinds of things blocked, so I don't have to deal with popups and mess like that. I went back and pulled out the direct links for the first few. I'll be back with the rest. YOU'RE WELCOME! See now, when I am like "I am listening to the Monkees" I know there will be at least one person out there who knows what I am talking about. That's what it's all about.
I am a big fan of google's Blog Search option... you can find almost anything out there. Like, just today, after months and months of searching, I found the soundtrack to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heats Club Band. The Bee Gees (and others) do The Beatles? I love it!
And here are the rest of the links. (Yeah, you don't have to get them both, those are alternate links.. just in case. )

But I don't really feel comfortable doing RPS since they're older now and the line is SO THIN with this show. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.
