I have access to TCM again, so that's mainly what's been filling up my time Not Working. My sleep is pretty bad so tonight the issue will be keeping myself sane overnight and then finding the right balance of sleep to wake up for my 4 PM shift.

I'm going through the back catalog trying to catch up (they delete a day's worth of movies at midnight) and there was a Maureen O'Brien day so I watch a few of hers. I really like her, but one WWII precocious child film after another can get a bit much

I realize that a lot of people don't want to click on links or what have you (lazy bitches), so I decided to start reposting. all my Bonded by Madness entries over here. I'll probably do this for tonight's Glee as well if I'm up late at night. Keep in mind that I wrote this a week ago, so that's why all the language is in present tense. To make things easier, I split the post up into three lj-cut sections. On the blog I'm able to use footnotes, but I can't be assed to figure out how (and even, if) it's possible over here. So suck it.

I think that starts things off on a good enough note.

Tonight was one of those episodes. You know, the one where they take a common word and then have all the songs in the episode have that word in the title. Sort of like what I was doing with my radio show. All last year. Why don't I have a job yet?

I liked this episode, it was directed by Joss Whedon, had Neil Patrick Harris and had a handful of memorable and well-made songs and dance numbers. I'm keeping the intro short for soon to be very obvious reasons.

So the story behind this, and mind that I'm completely making it up, is that Micky is telling some outrageous joke, and Keith was acting it out, but fell on his leg badly. And Ringo is kind of just standing around and laughing because he's not used to social interaction outside his friend group.

Also, I love the little belt obsession that's going on in the photo.

P.S. OMG I LOVE THIS PHOTO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH.

P.S. Okay, this is getting a little annoying. Does anyone know who to fix my spatial layout problem?

1.
Weekend Update
It's old school SNL and Jane Curtain. What's not to like? The first time I saw this sketch I was on my sides laughing my ass off.

2.
Circle of Life, AtU
Oh Across the Universe ♥ I don't know why I don't have more icons of this movie, but the whole film is just so beautiful. There really isn't any plot but the cinematography more than makes up for it (not to mention the music and *coughJimandJoecough*). I ship Jude/Lucy so hard.

3.
Where's Cardiff?, DW
Cause who wants to be in bloody Norway?

4.
Peter Rabbit, The Monkees
This is my happy place icon. Peter is so adorable and cute, and though I know he's just acting, and he got kind of frustrated with how people kept mistaking him for his character...I still love him. I just want to hug him and pat him on the head and tell him he can wear the bunny suit if he wants to because he's a special snowflake.

5.
Brick, Brick
BRIIIIIICK. If you weren't aware of one of the main reasons why I'm so goddamn obsessed with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, GO WATCH THIS MOVIE. Seriously, it's one of the first movies I watched where the stylization and writing just completely blew me away.

B)Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one reason why I like you. Then re-post this and spread the love.

C) Step 1: Put your MP3 player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 15 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google, Last.FM, or any other search engine is CHEATING!

This is an interesting story about how I'm totally insane.

Recently, I discovered.... )

P.S. I'm taking a German film class and there are a bunch of people I'm friends with taking it with me. There are six of us and our collective identities include: German history nerds, culture whores/film enthusiasts, Jewish or about-to-be Jewish people, snarky commenters. There is quite a bit of overlap and we all sat in a little group at the back of the class. We watched a movie tonight that dealt with a refugee WWII Jewish family. I'm pretty sure everyone else in the class hated us.

P.S.S. REG! REGINALD FAIRFIELD!
Still creeps into my mind now and then, even today.

ETA: Oh great. Episode 11 of Middleman is apparently infested with OSDW references, so now I have to watch it.

ETA 2: I've decided. I'm not crazy about this show as a college student, but I'm forcing my kids to watch it.

Livejournal is so fucking awesome for chronicling things, because I inevitably have to go back and find a post that was made months or years ago.

Also, I'm alive. Kind of well. Not really.

ANYWAY, how are YOU?
barkinmad: (Default)
Saw "500 Days of Summer".

Now I have nothing to accomplish for the rest of my life.

P.S. My mom and sister went to a yard sale this morning and brought me back a Monkees CD! It's the first one, and it was only for a dollar which is why they were willing to pay for it, but still! Monkees!

• Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.

• NO CAPTIONS!!! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.

• They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.

• You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.

I totally broke the rule and have thirteen. Because I never shut up. I don't like that number, but whatever.

I'm including my photography because it's basically the only photos I have )

Um, FAVORITE PICTURE EVER?

YES.

P.S. Expect and better screencap of it REALLY REALLY soon.

Can we start a TorkNotYorke campaign or something? Just because it's catchy. And really, who can say no to this face?

I'm starting a hashtag on Twitter as we speak.

I should probably get a Monkee icon at this point...

ETA: I just realized that not everyone has access to my brain, so I'm just taking this time to explain that by Yorke I mean Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Nothing against him personally (okay, well maybe) but I'm don't exactly associate him with bright, happy things like I do Peter.
