I can understand how the sentence would make you feel uncomfortable, but I was using it because it's a racial stereotype that people immediately jump to. I was saying that you can't tell at all from a glimpse, and maybe he does fall into that stereotype, which would be unfortunate, but more likely than not he doesn't.
