It's a Psychobilly Freakout!

So, I had a bunch of issues watching last night's episode, which meant that I missed parts of the beginning. I caught up on everything, so now I can give my (very, very, very, VERY detailed) review. Seriously, guys. Why do I write so much? I think it's a condition.
“Fight or Flight”
I have a feeling I’m going to be taking better notes on Heroes than I will be on my history textbook, guys.
--Oh god, the Mohinderlogue is back. But at least it’s explaining the title of the episode. I didn’t catch that first time. IDK. I miss the Mohinderlogue when it’s not there, but I’m not exactly glad when it is. I think I just like listening to Mohinder’s voice…
--Aw, Mohinder is SUCH the mother. “No, you shouldn’t have! But now that you did, do something with yourself, you fool!” WIN.
--Molly looks sick, y’all. With the purple eyeshadow and all that.
--Why the hell would Monica listen to Camilla? She wasn’t even there. That thing about snitching? Really, really middle school. That guy needs to be CAUGHT. We need a HERO. I’M HOLDING OUT FOR YOU, MONICA. Otherwise, sweetheart, you’re awesome.
--So, would anyone support the theory that Camilla has something to do with gangbanger guy? Like, maybe she’s been part of the gangbang all along? They’re gangbang accomplices? How many times can I say gangbang until I make you squirm?
--I like the little eye roll Monica does when she turns around…it’s just a nice moment.
--Okay this is the scene where I came in with Peter mid-sentence -dry hump. I like Caitlin, I really do. And I want her to show up in New York with Peter (with his memory back) and be all, “Surprise, Nathan! You have a sister-in-law! Meet our Oirish baby!” Because Peter NEEDS to get his memory back, he NEEDS to go back to New York, and if nothing else he NEEDS TO HAVE A FREAKIN’ SCENE WITH NATHAN. It’s a must. I demand it, Kring, you hear me? Or else I’ll send the squnnies after you. I hear they're hungry this time of the season.
--Was KB’s entrance supposed to be a big thing? Because it was kind of anticlimactic. Like, the lighting wasn’t even right. She didn’t come out of the shadows because I could TOTALLY SEE HER IN THERE. Way to go, team. But I’m just going to say now that I freakin’ love Elle. Her character is EEVVIL with a side of Cher.
--I really like Elle’s power, but I think they could have found a better way to introduce it. That way was just really awkward. I don’t think it was the CGI, but it’s just that both times I saw it, I was all “that’s such a strange thing to do.” She probably should have waited until later to introduce it to the audience. Then again, I don’t think her character is the type to wait very patiently to use new toys XD
--I really liked how the “Petrelli and Parkman” faded into the foreground, it was a really cool effect. Like you were sort of walking through it along with the characters? I’m a big fan of the title placement, guys. Big fan. They sort of dropped it on the title this time, but picked it up on the credits.
--“I can take care of myself.” Theme of the episode? First Elle, who’s EEEVIIILLLL. And then Nathan, who’s just trying to take care of himself and his family. Peter sort of says “I need to own up to who I am” which is sort of saying “I need to take care of myself now instead of mooching of you guys.” The storylines connect, guys! Take that, HMMers!
--“…I’m not a CARGO JET, Parkman.” HAHAHAHAHAHA OH PETRELLI, I’M GOING TO HAVE YOUR BROTHER’S BABIES BUT YOU ARE SO THE GODFATHER. JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR YOUR THEME SONG. JUST WAIT.
--Okay, this was Scene Number 2 that I missed half of. And both of them were Peter! It was a freakin’ disastrophe! Y/Y?
--Aww, Ricky. Looking out for your own! I really like him, guys. I only realized just before he died (SPOILER!) exactly how much I liked him. He was great, fake Oirish accent and all. Which means that I must really like Elle if I can let what she did slide. Then again, this means that Caitlin if free to move about the world as she pleases, so…win?
ETA: The only thing that bothered me about this scene? He owns a bar. Doesn't he get customers he doesn't recognize? I mean, I know it's typical in Ireland to have your own personal Cheers, but there are always other people as well. Maybe Peter drank there once or twice, it's not that far-fetched...that said, he still probably would have died.
--Um…so I really don’t like Camilla. I just…don’t. So can we skip this scene? Because it’s really nothing that we haven’t seen before. I hope you’re taking notes, show, because I really don’t want any of these scenes next season either.
--The only thing I’m going to say about the scene is that I think right after Camilla asks “Like what?”, Monica is about to reveal something deeper, but then holds back and just going into her regular spiel about “being somebody”. I really don’t think that’s what she intended to say AT ALL.
--AND THERE BETTER NOT BE FEMSLASH STARTING. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT CAMONICA OR MONILLA OKAY? That’s it.
--Nathan, you’re awesome. I love you for knocking on the door and speeding things up and being all “LEAKING INFORMATION NOW!” because seriously, I would not be able to take Parkman’s slow pace either. I feel like Parkman is kind of like Zach from GG. He can be funny and awesome sometimes, but he’s a biiiiit slow on the uptake. And that’s giving him miles of slack.
--And for waiting behind the door frame until you got all shotgun-ready. THAT’S WHAT YOU CALL BEING SMART PEOPLE. Nathan really knows how to take care of himself, and I appreciate that in a character. When there are a bunch of dumb characters running around *coughSmallvillecough* then I don’t think you can really care about what dramatic thing happens to them. It’s all like “WELL THEY HAD IT COMING! IDJITS”
--*click**click**click* “I’m good.” SQUEEEEEE.
--Nightmare Man is really interesting. And apparently a really good liar. I actually thought Claire was a pretty good liar last season, having all her bases covered and all that (I would have NEVER thought of all the things she thought of for the manatee project), so it’s either bad characterization, or I’m just really bad at telling whether people are good liars or not.
--NM made a huuuuge mistake reminding Nathan of Peter. HUGE.
--Oooh, I was so excited to see Noah play piano. He’s really excellent. And I love how Monica just starts playing all nonchalantly. The effects got a little weird at the end when she was speeding up (why’d she do that? Was it because she got worried?), but it was just a nice all around scene. And where’s the SuperBrat? Not that I miss him much. But still, if he doesn’t watch out, he’s going to go the way of Lyle. (This is where you ask, Lyle WHO?)
--Do they REALLY believe we wouldn’t notice the repeating scenery in the background? Honestly, tech crew. Step it up.
--“I’m on her side.” Which pretty means YOU LOSE, MOHINDER. But that’s okay, because you’re pretty. And I’ll always forgive the pretty ones.
--I like the continuity of Nathan’s hand cast. I saw it, and for a second I was all “WAH?” and then I remembered about the whole Seven Years Incident. Which is actually a really nice foreshadowing of Nathan’s nightmare to follow. Crack subtle work, team! How much would I love it if this turned out to be Adrian’s suggestion?
--NM is AWESOME man. Okay, so I know that a lot of people have their own theories about the nightmares that both Nathan and Matt had, but I’m just going to give my own:
Matt- I think Matt’s is the least complicated of the two, but I guess that just fits in with his character. Basically, he doesn’t want to end up like his father. He grew up his whole life knowing that his father was a rotten scumbag, and that’s why he wanted to become a policeman. That’s why he was so damn happy that he was going to have a baby. He wanted a family, he wanted to be a good guy, a hero. So to be in lock-up for some sort of crime, and then to have his wife basically call him out on abandoning their son like his father did to him…that would just destroy him. It would be like his whole life’s work just became unraveled in a single day. I also think his dedication to not abandoning his family stems from his father too. I got really mad at him last season for trying to make his failing marriage work so hard. I’m not saying he shouldn’t, but I’d at least get mad at my spouse for cheating on me. He seemed to want her forgiveness. Now I understand why.
Nathan- Okay, so Nathan pretty much feels responsible for everything ever having to do with Peter. So when Peter blows up and disappears and moves to Mozambique or whatever, it pretty much means that Nathan failed at his job. This is pretty much a Nathanfied version of the Dean Winchester Complex. He feels entirely responsible for losing Peter and therefore takes it out on himself. His disfigurement is replacing what should have happened to Peter (his face should have blown up when he exploded) with his face. He’s pretty much transferring Peter’s woes to his shoulders.
Enough with that meta, then!
--I love how they totally redecorated Peter’s hallways and turned it into the NM’s. DON’T TELL ME DIFFERENTLY, I KNOW IT TO BE TROOOO!
--I really liked seeing Ando again. That’s pretty much the only thing I’m enjoying about Hiro’s storyline right now. That and the incredible/hilarious looks on David Ander’s face.
--Okay, since the rest of Monica’s scenes are relatively short, I think I’m just going to respond to them now. I’m glad they’re getting the whole Monica/Micah secrets thing out of the way. Micah really has a storyline this season, I’m glad! He looks a lot older now too. I liked the double-dutch scene. It was just a little bit of levity in Monica’s whole storyline that I really appreciated. And good thinking to watch that Bruce Lee movie. She’s actually applying her powers to do something useful. I think that’s what I like about Monica. She puts all her gifts to good use in order to achieve a goal. She always needs to strive for something, which means that her character will rarely be without direction on the show. I’ll save the last (and best) scene for when it actually appears.
--Mohinder is totally getting owned by the company now. HE’S THEIR BITCH. I love how he’s all pacifist and stuff, but when it comes time, he’s able to pull the trigger.
--Bob’s not as ambiguous and HRG or as scarily backlight as Thompson, but I’m pretty sure I don’t like him. And I didn’t want Jessica to kill him, but a little damage wouldn’t have hurt. And how surprised was I that Jessica came storming out of there? I was all WTF? And I loved how all the characters can recognize one another now. It’s just something different from last season where there were all these “Who are YOU?” people running around. I’m pretty sure that Niki doesn’t have MPD, the company might just be telling her that. How else do you explain the Godsend symbol? I’m with Cookie. Plus, when she got free, someone in the back screamed “Niki’s loose!” and you didn’t even see the symbol on her shoulder. It’s totally a lie to maker her stay at the Company.
--PETER!!!!! Okay, I admit I got tired and cranky while writing this post, but Peter makes it AAALLLL better! The second I saw that canvas, I was just waiting for Peter to start drawing. But hey, guess what he did first? He opened the BOX (DUN DUN DUN)! That’s the first step back to NAATTTHHAAAN? Remember Nathan, Peter? You two have quite a history together, let me tell. Man, the stories you two aren’t allowed to share in public. And dudes, his passport says FEMALE! It fricken’ does, look it up! This lead me to believe I’m secretly him in another live, and my empathic abilities will manifest when I’m 26. This is a true story.
--So, the AWESOMEST FIGHT EVER. I loved how it was filmed. I knew that they were having the same fight, but I didn’t catch on that they were fighting each other until about mid-way. Like, I thought there might have been some kind of formula for the nightmare where you had a fight and it was always the same exact moves or something, but then I realized that they were doing the opposite thing and then I realized. I just love all the quick cuts and the choreography and then MATT PUSHED A THOUGHT INTO NATHAN’S MIND. BEST EVER. I love how they’re trying to go somewhere with Matt’s character. He might not be the smartest, but he’s going to be able to communicate on a whole new level with other people now.
--If Mohinder knocked on my door and told me he had answers for my questions…I don’t know. I DON’T EVEN KNOW. I’d just be all “Guh..huh? What ability?” And then he’d write me off as a squib and leave me forever. But, you know, yeah. Also, I was just WAITING for Mohinder to go inside and see Micah there. It would be all like, “Hey, Micah! I JUST SAW YOUR MOM TIED UP INSIDE A SEKRITT FACILITY HOWAREYOU?....AWK-WARD.”
--Okay, so this is the scene that totally sold me on Elle. It was all “Alright, I killed him, okay? WHAT is the big deal?” and that totally got a laugh from me. I think she’s just a completely Daddy’s girl with a wild streak of evil, and she just liked playing sweet and dumb for the fun of it. It’s just…I just really like her, okay?
--Okay, that canvas TOTALLY has Notre Dame in the back, so I don’t WHAT the hell Caitlin and Peter were thinking. The signs are in FRENCH! Why the hell would that mean that it’s in Montreal? I mean, I know they speak French in Montreal and all (hee!), but does Montreal have random Notre Dames lying around? No. Sorry Peter, you fail on that one.
--I’m not sure if thinking about yourself is the best thing to do when you’re girlfriend is mourning her recently departed brother, but at least it’s moving the story forward. Plus, I feel like he’s helping her by finding whoever did that to him.
No WEST! YAAAAAY! And we get a bunch of Sylar next week, so that’s all good.
I have this theory about Heroes and the powers bestowed on them, but I really can’t write anymore tonight (ya think?) so I’ll just give my new (and some old) character analyses tomorrow. It’s all coming together, y’all. I think I’m right about this one.
