Before I knew that Tennant has a Scottish accent, I fell in love with Jaimie's. He was my *first*.

Date: 2008-03-10 02:49 pm (UTC)School was actually how I saw it in the first place. :D My History teacher made us do movie nights. At the beginning of the semester he gave us a list of four films that matched each of the time periods we were studying (so four for WWI/Interwar years/Depression, four for WWII, four for the Cold War, and four for "people's history", which dealt with oil, feminism, Gandhi, etc.) We had to watch one of the films, do a report on it, and say what we learned about history from it.
But yeah, Dr Strangelove was the one my class watched for the Cold War unit. XD Which I still find terribly amusing, lmao.
GOD, THE ACCENT.
Scottish accents make me so much happier than they ought to. I was in my happy place the entire time I was in Scotland, haha. XD

Date: 2008-03-10 04:24 pm (UTC)They do! Like, I'm mainly a sucker for the English accent, but lately I've grown to really love Scottish as well. I think I'm in love with UK accents in general (except for Welsh because I couldn't really stand first season Gwen).
And man! Scotland! My first choice has this six-month Scotland trip where you stay in a castle with sheep and everything, but they also have another one in L.A. where you basically work as a TV intern, so I'm all conflicted *conflicted*. Of course, I have to get in first, but that's another matter XD
OKAY. THAT'S IT. WHERRRRRE DO YOU GET YOUR ICONS?

Date: 2008-03-10 05:47 pm (UTC)Nope. The majority of people in my class wanted to see Schindler's List.
Yeah, I'm in love with all British accents. :D Welsh included, probably because Gwen wasn't the first Welsh person I heard. ;3 My grandmother was born in Wales, and she still has a bit of an accent.
OMG that six month trip sounds AMAZING. ♥ (God, there are so many sheep in Scotland! XD Which made me kind of creeped out, 'cause I had watched this film Black Sheep not long before I went to Britain, and it was basically these zombie sheep. XD)
Haha, once you get in, just flip a coin. :D
XDDD
I find most of them through

Date: 2008-03-11 04:58 am (UTC)Schindler's List must have been fuuuuuun. I saw a couple of scenes when I was really young and I was like, literally traumatized. I haven't really seen it since? But I still remember shots from it....yeah.
Oooh, sweet! Yeah, she was the first I heard so although the accent is okay, I associate it with the wrong thing XD
IT DOES, DOESN'T IT? I was like, 90% sure I wanted to go to L.A., because I'm deathly afraid of flying, but...c'MON. Castle! Sheep! Moats! (Also, that story is a bit like watching "Blink" before walking past a graveyard, no? My friend actually DID that.)
Nice! Thank you muchly :D *saves*

Date: 2008-03-11 03:27 pm (UTC)It's fantastic. :D Rent it at some point. They glossed over some of the less nice aspects of Schindler's involvement in the Nazi party, but over all it's pretty accurate, and really well acted. And it has Ralph Fiennes who is amaaaaaaazing in his role.
Castle! Sheep! Moats! Kilts! Scottish accents! ;D
(Yes! That's it, exactly. XD And god, your poor friend! Though... Once I finally get my rl friends to watch Blink I'm taking them by a graveyard. >D)
